Sandon Hall’s museum, which encompasses the major State Apartments and several rooms upstairs, tells the fascinating tale of an aristocratic family who were at the pinnacle of 19th century British political and cultural life.

Combine History and Pleasure
There is the breathtaking spectacle of a complete room decorated with very rare hand-painted Chinese wallpaper and an outstanding collection of World War 1 Recruitment Posters. Other highlights amongst an amazing feast of varied exhibits include the duelling pistols of Pitt the Younger, original letters from Nelson, Dickens, Disraeli, etc. and even a death mask of Napoleon.

A Stately Experience
All tours are led by knowledgeable, friendly guides and last about 90 minutes. Tours must be pre-booked and are for groups only, with a minimum number of 18 and, when a stroll through the landscaped garden is also involved, a maximum of 50. Also on offer is a splendid 5 mile walk (independent but with notes provided) through beautiful parkland. Tours can be arranged at varying times, and during the daytime, delicious home-made refreshments are also available on request.

A Perfect Day in Special Surroundings
Visits are possible at any time of year, though the gardens/grounds are especially beautiful in May/June when the azaleas and rhododendrons flower, and also in the autumn. The trees in the notable arboretum are quite magnificent and extend into the rolling parkland which is a visual delight throughout the seasons.
