Planning Your Wedding

Planning your wedding can involve many different aspects, each of which is important for making your special day perfect. Below is a month-by-month checklist to help you through the planning process.

Twelve months to go
Choose between a religious or civil ceremony – Decide on a wedding date and time – Book the ceremony venue – Arrange wedding insurance
Eleven months to go
Decide on approximate guest numbers and draw up a list – Book the reception venue – Choose Bridal Party, including bridesmaids, pageboys, best man and ushers
Ten months to go
Choose a wedding dress and book dressmaker and fittings – Select clothes for male and female wedding party – Book musicians for reception
Nine months to go
Book photographer – Choose a florist and all flower arrangements, including bouquets and buttonholes – Arrange wedding cake
Eight months to go
Book honeymoon and arrange travel insurance – Order wedding stationery, including invitations, name cards and order of service sheets
Seven months to go
Choose and order wedding rings – Decide details for ceremony, including vows – Arrange wedding transport
Six months to go
Arrange a gift list and choose a store(s) to manage it
Five months to go
Arrange music with musicians – Arrange any necessary vaccinations for the honeymoon
Four months to go
Address Invitations – Arrange stag and hen parties
Three months to go
Send invitations – Buy gifts for wedding party – Update venue/caterers with numbers and menu choices – Book appointments with beauticians/stylists etc
Two months to go
Finalise plans for stag and hen parties as well as honeymoon
One month to go
Finlise details with suppliers – Meet with venue and confirm final numbers, timings and suppliers – Obtain marriage licence – Hoild stag/hen parties – Hold a wedding rehearsal if you wish to
